Using Docs to Create a Multimedia Text Set

If you're like me, you probably provide your students with a variety of activities throughout the presentation of a chapter or unit -- essential vocabulary, worksheets, KWLs, etc. Our challenge now is to deliver these tasks virtually.

While Google Docs may be used primarily as a word processor, this application has much greater potential for interactive learning in the form of a Multimedia Text Set (MTS). An MTS is defined as "Multimedia Text Set or MTS is a set of different forms of media surrounding a common topic, theme or issue. A MTS is reflective of the texts of today's world in that it incorporates print/text, video, music, Internet sources, images, photographs, cartoons, etc." So, basically, an interactive worksheet.

It may take some time for you to assemble the MTS initially, but the results will provide your students with a very engaging way to learn the content for the unit being presented.
